Smoke-Free Workplaces Forever

Tune: Battle Hymn of the Republic, Julia Ward Howe
lyrics modeled after Solidarity Forever by Ralph Chaplin
While the poison of tobacco through the worker's lungs shall flow
And there is no smoke-free area where anyone can go
We must raise our voice in protest, even sue to let them know
That they all must go smoke-free.
Chorus:
Smoke-free workplaces forever
Smoke-free workplaces forever
Smoke-free workplaces forever
For the clean air makes us strong
Is there aught we hold in common with the greedy parasite
Who allows the air to poison every non-smoker in sight
Is there anything left to us but to organize and fight
For the clean air makes us strong
We say we're fighting terror, and we have no more to fear,
While four hundred thousand perish from tobacco smoke each year
Then the Colorado legislature says, "Now that's nice, dear."
...But the bad air is so...WRONG!
Us asthma victims have a right to travel where we please,
And not to be held prisoner by our disabilities.
We can sue and use the ADA to bring them to their knees.
The clean air makes us strong
Now, Colorado has a law: they call it "Make my day,"
So those folks who smoke in public had best stay out of my way.
Self-defense has changed the game rules so now ANYONE can play,
And the clean air makes us strong.
Friends, poison gas and chemicals are not allowed in war.
There's a UN resolution that takes care of that, I'm sure,
But our politicians want them in your local grocery store.
The clean air makes us strong.
